When night turns into adventure – Ultracycling with Tina Büttner
“You ride through the darkness, feel every muscle, every breath gets heavier – and yet you want to keep going. One more mountain, one more border.”
Tina Büttner, 45, a practice manager in an orthopedic clinic – and since 2023, a passionate ultracyclist – knows exactly what it means to push past your limits.
2024 was a year full of goosebump moments. “The preparation, the overnighters with my husband, the long rides in the rain – it’s all part of the adventure. But that moment when you cross the finish line and realize you did it – it’s indescribable!”
Her highlights?
Defending her title at the Race Across The Alps: 525 kilometers, 14,000 meters of elevation, nonstop.
And then the Race Around Austria Extreme: 2,200 kilometers, 30,000 meters of elevation, three one-hour naps – and in the end: 2nd place!
“Since one race always leads to the next. In May, it's off to the Race Across Italy – 770 kilometers through the Apennines. And in June, hopefully back to Nauders to defend the title again.”
Always with her: her SIOLS glasses.
“What matters most to me? Perfect fit – no draft, no fogging. And they have to look good!”
Tina particularly loves the AERO Cycling Vario Shields:
“They react so quickly and reliably to changing light – it’s incredible!”
And the AERO Thermo lens:
“You wouldn’t believe how much cold it keeps out.”
Lens swapping?
“Sure, it takes a bit of practice at first, but once you’ve got it down – it’s super quick. And the optical clip? That’s the perfect way for me to combine sunglasses with my prescription.”
Why SIOLS?
“Warm, straightforward, and absolutely professional. Working with the team is simply a joy.”
We wish Tina and her team every success for the 2025 season!
